Shortly before the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald trump, trump declared that if he didn’t win the election, it would be because the election was rigged. Fast Forward to the 2024 election, trump declared, “Vote for me” …”You don’t have to vote again… the country will be fixed”. Trump was obviously well aware of the tactics that Republicans have employed to rig elections, and how he could use that to his political advantage. He has also aggressively ignored presidential and judicial precedence, expanding presidential power far beyond operational limits of a democracy.
Since trump took office in 2025, there has been nothing but chaos for our federal workers and institutions, immigrants seeking asylum at various stages of attaining citizenship, the general public, and our allies and trading partners. The New York Times described his first 100 days as, “There have never been 100 days like this!” AP news described the first 100 days as, “Steamrolling government, strong arming allies, igniting trade wars”. Huge numbers of court cases were filed due to his overreach and unconstitutional actions taken through Executive Decisions. In addition to attacks on public and private institutions, Due Process and free speech, he threatened Republican legislators with retribution if they did not pass The Big, Beautiful Bill which gave tax cuts to the rich while gutting services to the rest of us! The Washington Center for Equitable Growth stated that, “The Congressional Republican’s budget bill is the most regressive in at least 40 years”. Most egregious is that it takes away health coverage from millions of people and raises costs for families.
Democracy is on a precipice, Trump must be stopped! Let’s rally and dissent together! We need to elect a Congress that will hold trump in check!
