Officers

Faith Strailey, Chair

I have been a member of PCDCC since 2012 and have served as Chair since 2013. I am a retired public school teacher, having spent 34 years in teaching. I am also currently serving on the Plumas Audubon Society Board and the Plumas County Solid Waste Task Force Board.

I believe that “All Men Are Created Equal”, and that protecting the “Constitution”, the “Rule of Law”, and our environment is essential to our future. Preserving Democracy will be our legacy to future generations!

Susan Christensen, Vice Chair

My career path was varied; I’ve been in customer service, outside sales, management, and education (adjunct faculty at Chico State, Butte College, and Feather River College).

I’ve been involved with the Plumas County Democrats since 2011 and began serving as vice-chair this year. I remember a Republican party that represented conservative values in a thoughtful, willing-to-compromise way. I miss the civility of those “old politics.” Today’s Republican Party is an entirely different animal, one that is willing to bend and twist the US Constitution to achieve political goals that I do not share. My commitment is to defending the Constitution.

Julie Hochrein, Secretary

I am a retired public school educator with 30 years of experience in elementary schools in Plumas County. I have been a lifelong Democrat, primarily due to my mother’s influence on the importance of social justice and the value of speaking up, but I have only been a member of PCDCC since 2016. I have been the secretary for the committee since 2021. We are a small but mighty group of activists, bridging the gap between voters and candidates, and keeping the community educated regarding political and social justice issues.

Ruth Jackson, Treasurer

I am a retired librarian, having worked in academic libraries for several years before moving to Plumas County, where I spent approximately 20 years at the county public library. I have also worked in law offices: initially, when I arrived in Plumas County, and after my sole practitioner husband’s clerk moved out of state.

I, too, am a life-long Democrat, as were my parents. I have been a member of the PCDCC since its re-energization during the Bush era, and I have served as treasurer for over 20 years. I agree that we are a small but mighty group of activists, helping to broaden the public's understanding of issues and candidates.
